Germany offers a wide choice of used Audis, with many engines, trims and specifications. But an attractive price is not enough: before importing an Audi into France, the vehicle and its documentation must be checked carefully.

FL IMPORT AUTO acts as a vehicle broker: the vehicles presented are available through a European partner network and their availability is reconfirmed before any commitment.

1. Identify the exact Audi you want

Two Audis with the same commercial name may differ significantly in value depending on the engine, trim, gearbox, options and year. Before comparing prices, check the exact trim, power output, drivetrain, main equipment and first registration date in particular.

You can browse our currently listed Audis, as well as our selections of Audi A3 and Audi Q2.

2. Check the history and mileage

Ask for the available maintenance records and look for a consistent timeline: invoices, workshop visits, roadworthiness tests, major work and successive mileage readings. The aim is not just to establish whether a service book exists, but to check that the information can be cross-referenced.

A poorly maintained premium Audi can quickly wipe out the saving made on purchase. Mechanical and electronic components and expensive equipment must therefore be included in the assessment.

3. Check the seller's documents

The seller must be able to provide the documents needed for the sale and future registration. Before any payment, clearly identify the professional or private seller, check the vehicle information and verify consistency between the documents and the listing.

For the general procedure, see our complete guide to importing a car from Germany.

4. Compare the total cost delivered to France, not just the German price

The right comparison is the overall budget. It may include the vehicle price, transport, checks, procedures, registration and the taxes applicable to that specific vehicle. These items vary by car and must be reconfirmed before any commitment.

Also see our guides to the French tax clearance certificate (quitus fiscal) and the registration certificate for an imported vehicle.

5. Do not buy based on photos alone

Photos help shortlist an Audi, but do not replace a review of its documentation. For a vehicle at a distance, request detailed views of the bodywork, interior, wheels, tyres and sensitive areas. An additional inspection may be appropriate depending on the value and documentation.

Tax rules, registration procedures, costs and warranty terms may change and depend on the specific vehicle. They are reconfirmed before any commitment.
